Party Drinks

Drink recipe from fireside:

1 can limeade frozen concentrate
2 - 2 liter 7-up
1/2 c. sugar
1 T almond extract
1 T vinegar
Lemon slices and ice cubes to float on top.

You can substitute different concentrates (or additional ones on top of a basic one), add mashed bananas, or berries to come up with a variety of party drink concotions.

If you want it to be slush, just freeze for 24 hours before serving w/o the 7-up and add it prior to party.

The secret to the zing is the vinegar and almond extract for the extra flavor. I thought of trying rum extract, that might be tasty, too.
(I'll add a picture next time I make up a batch of party drink.)

Family Favorite

It's been a while since a new post on here.  Hopefully, everyone is busy having fun. This year's menu for us (so far) has been full of dishes that are "all-in-one"type dishes- with a little something from each food group to make it a complete meal.  Ham Fried Rice: rice, ham, carrots, peas, scrambled eggs.  Pesto Pasta: topped with turkey bacon, tomatoes, and a little cheese. And this Dorito Taco salad. I'm sure you all have this recipe, but I thought I'd share anyway.
1 pound ground beef or turkey
3/4 head of lettuce
3 tomatoes
Doritos (you can use baked if you want)
1 can kidney beans (we like black better) drained and rinsed
a little onion
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
3/4 bottle Thousand Island dressing (you can use light or Fat Free)

Chop and mix tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese.  Mix with dressing.  Brown hamburger, drain, and add the beans. Simmer for 10 min. Add to salad.  Serve with crushed Doritos.  I like it topped with sour cream and avocados.
